Music Therapist and Educator Rebecca Fogarty has recently opened her Music Therapy studio in Newrybar, catering for children and adults who have self managed or agency managed funding from the NDIS. Rebecca holds a Bachelor of Music Education from the Sydney Conservatorium of Music and a Graduate Diploma of Music Therapy from the University of Technology, Sydney. With over 25 years in the education field specializing in K-12 music, and 10 years working as a music therapist in the UK and NZ, Rebecca is excited to be now working in this area in the Northern Rivers.
“Music is one of the greatest tools we can use when working towards creating positive change and development”, says Rebecca. Established as a well known therapy in Australia for the past 30 years, Music Therapy research and Music Medicine research is now starting to show amazing scientific results. ‘These are things we’ve always known, but now the science is backing us up”.
Rebecca currently works with children who are extremely high functioning but on the Autism spectrum and children with developmental delay , ADHD, and visual impairment. Coming to Music Therapy is often the highlight of their week. We use music to help clients with their speech development, social skills, learning, reading, self esteem, and physical co-ordination and mobility. And it’s fun!
